Research on the mechanism of stimulation of the immune system through immunization with virus like particles, and research on the down regulation of the immune system in cancer patients and tumor bearing mice. Setup of the SCID/NOD transplant model in which SCID/NOD mice were transplanted with PBL of tumor patients, and subsequently challenged with tumor cells from the same patient. This model could be used to test treatment modalities in a syngeneic human/mouse hybrid tumor model. |

Research on genetically modified tumors to improve tumor immunogenicity by inducing the tumor cells to express costimulatory molecules like CD40, CD70, CD80 and CD86 and compare the mode of action and pharmacokinetics of these costimulatory molecules on CD4 and CD8 T cell response induction. Furthermore, a system was developed with which alternative costimulatory molecules were cloned by personally developed “high” throughput expression cloning methods. |
